Geodesic Math: Errata and Criticism: Revision History

Back to Geodesic Math: Errata and Criticism

30Jan2008 Add Val's erratum.
02Jan2008 Separate the Errata and Criticism section into two sections, Errata and Criticism. Minor edits.
20Dec2007 Note problem in Chapters 8 and 9 with circular reference regarding the explanation of the 54.7356+ value. Change Errata section header to Errata and Criticism.
08Dec2007 Use bold face instead of red to mark minor corrections. Email from David Welsh points out that equation 9.1 can be derived using the Pythagorean distance formula and the law of cosines from planar trigonometry and does not require the law of cosines from spherical trigonometry. This eliminated one of my complaints about Kenner's understatement of the math requirement required to understand the book. David also pointed out an error in the description of Diagram 3.1. He has the 2003 edition and says "it looks it's a reprint of the 1976 edition because the errors which you listed on your website are also in the 2003 edition."
03Jan2006 Expand the title from "Geodesic Math Errata" to "Geodesic Math: Errata and Criticism" since I certainly do a lot of the latter. Minor edits to introductory remarks.
27Dec2005 Note Kenner's miscount of the great circles of the tetrahedron on p. 53. Qualify comment about HP-65 code a little more carefully.
19Dec2005 Refer people to Chapter 4 instead of my book for alternative to Chapter 2 force analysis of tensegrity icosahedron.
28Nov2005 Add contact information, John Braley's contribution and more background on Kenner. Reorder items so they follow the sequence of the book as much as possible. Reword some of the items to make them consistent with the others. Fix typo.
26Nov2005 Add the other marginal notes and corrections I can find in my copy of the book.
25Nov2005 First draft.
