BERTHA VON SUTTNER, born in 1843 in Prague, died in 1914 in Vienna, founded the Society of the Friends of Peace (Gesellschaft der Friedensfreunde) in Austria and was the vice-president of the international Peace Bureau (Friedensbüro) in Bern. In 1905 she received the Nobel Peace Prize. She was an early model for the German women's movement.
