MONIKA WULF-MATHIES (a.k.a. Wulf-Matthies) is the current EU Commissioner for
Regional Policy in Brussels after being, from 1982 to 1994,
chair of the
ÖTV (Gewerkschaft Öffentliche
Dienste Transport und Verkehr -- Public Service Trade Union:
Transportation and Commerce)
and thereby the first woman
chair of a
DGB (Deutsche Gewerkschaftsbund --
Federation of German Trade Unions) labor union.
