Sewer Completion Imminent

Four years ago the heavy winter rains caused enough earth movement to break the main sewer serving El Prado Estates. At the time it was successfully replaced with a large blue plastic hose that subsequently served us well for four years.

Several days ago, with no ceremony or fanfare, the new, clay tile El Prado main sewer began operation, taking over from the temporary blue hose. Mr. Tony Tajalli, the Head Construction Inspector for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, estimates the project will be totally completed by this coming Friday, May 22.

Still to be finished are the top sections of two manholes. In addition, a manhole from the old sewer at the end of Tarapaca Road is to be removed as is the bridge that supported the old sewer over the canyon. The contractor expects to restore the earth contours to their original state, replacing top soil where appropriate, and to re-pave the damaged access road as necessary.

That's it then. Our beloved Friendship Park will return to its former tranquil state within a few days, and your diligent reporter's appellation of "Professor" among the construction folk will be only a memory pleasant memory.
