Here's a picture to show what the complex around the Icehouse Dam looked like years ago. In the background is the Fitchburg train passing by on its way to Shirley's Depot Square. The view is from across the Nashua River in Ayer.

The road goes over the river parallel to the dam (to the left of the dam in this picture). The Ice House is in the background behind the main building which no longer exists. The dam and its environs are currently (July, 2000) undergoing much needed renovations courtesy of Ice House Partners, Inc., who are also constructing a research building which will resemble the old main building.
