Citgo Gas Station

Here is the only gas station in Shirley. It is just around the corner from my house. One of the sub-themes of my Shirley pictures is Shirley architecture, and certainly the gas station is a distinctive architectural form. At the time of this drawing, this sub-theme was developing unconsciously, and one of the things which hooked my conscious mind was the gaudy colors. I was on the main street (Front Street) and received a lot of visitors while this was in process.

The old train depot used to be on this site. See Shirley Train Depot for a portrait of the new one. The old depot and the Apartment Complex across the way were part of the old Depot Square. Also related to this drawing is the Citgo drawing I did in Boston.
