Ctenuchid moth roosting on top of a garden valerian blossom

Ctenuchid Moth, Garden Valerian and Yarrow

These are drawings from two separate days. The drawing from the eighth is on the left. This is the bizarrest looking moth I've ever seen. I was surprised to find it in my Audubon Insects and Spiders guide. Mt. Greylock and western Massachusetts in general are pleasant vacation spots, and getting there is half the fun.

This was done with conté crayon I believe. A brown wash of watercolor made a nice background.
