How do I change DNS numbers in my Network Control Panel?
If you were instructed by a Trip.Net Technician to change the DNS numbers in your Network Control Panel, please follow these instructions:
Locate and double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.
When the My Computer window opens, you should see an icon for Control Panel. If not, try to click on the Start button, then Settings, and then look for the Control Panel icon.
After you've double-clicked on the Control Panel icon, you should see a screen that looks like this:
In the window, there will be an icon labeled "Network" : Double-click on this icon to open the Network Properties Window:
In the Network Properties Window, left-click on TCP/IP for your Dial Up Adapter. If you only have one instance of TCP/IP listed in the window, click on it. Then, click on the "Properties" button. You will see a window that looks like this:
You may get a message box telling you that "You have asked to change properties on a TCP/IP adaptor...", just click on the "OK" button to get to the TCP/IP Properties Window. Click on the tab labeled "DNS Configuration" at the top of the window, and enter the information as it appears here:
Replace "username" with your user name. Enter the DNS numbers by typing them into the blank beneath the words "DNS Server Search Order" (The box with the dots in it) and clicking on the "Add" button. When you are finished, click on the "OK" buttons until all windows are closed, and then restart your computer.
